Aaron Leiker
"KMAN This Morning" Host

Aaron Leiker has been with KMAN since April of 2004 and took on a larger role in October of 2005 when he began hosting the popular “KMAN This Morning.”  Aaron, along with Cathy Dawes and Tyler Haines, bring Manhattan and Northeast Kansas the latest in news, weather, sports, and information each weekday beginning at 6:00 a.m.  Aaron also serves as co-host for KMAN’s “In Focus.”  This program features interviews that affect our listeners and allow listeners to voice their opinions as well.

Aaron is originally from Holly, Colorado.  He came to Manhattan in 2001 to attend Kansas State University.  He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in electronic journalism in 2004. As an undergraduate, Aaron was awarded numerous times for broadcasting including a national third place award from the Broadcast Education Association for news. He currently is working on his master’s degree in mass communications while serving as a graduate teaching assistant in the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

Aaron’s parents, Will and Laurie, still reside in Holly where they own a large wheat operation. Aaron is the oldest of three children – one brother and one sister. Mark attends Colorado State University.  Morgan was smarter of the two as she chose to follow Aaron to attend Kansas State University.

His passion for radio dates back to his sophomore year of high school when he began working at a radio station in Lamar, Colorado.  Aaron says it is being able to interact with all types of people is the most rewarding parts of his job.  As he jokes, it is definitely not the money that keeps him in the business.
