ryanRYAN WALLACE

I was born in Memphis, Tennessee and remain very attached to my birthplace through my extended family that still lives on the mighty Mississippi. My family consists of my Mom and Dad (Lori and Lee) and my two younger sisters (Mollie and Shelby). Mollie is currently a Wildcat with me here in Manhattan and Shelby expects to be wearing purple upon her graduation in 2011. While I was born in Memphis, I have also lived in St. Louis, Missouri – Indianapolis, Indiana – and now Overland Park, Kansas where I've called home since 1999.

In high school, I was fortunate enough to attend a school district (Blue Valley) that had some amazing multi-media capabilities and was therefore able to pursue my lifelong dream of starting a career in TV/Radio. At BVHS, I was heavily involved in our student TV station and self-created sports show, Overtime!, as well as the district network, BVTV. After graduation, I badly wanted to attend the University of Missouri for Journalism purposes but was unable to do so financially because of out of state tuition. To this day, I consider it one of the best decisions I never had to make! I loved K-State from my first visit and it has provided me with so many opportunities in my field. I bleed purple! I expect to graduate in December of 2009 with a degree in Mass Communications- Electronic Media and a minor in Leadership Studies.
Outside of school, I dedicate much of my free time to my two places of employment: Manhattan Broadcasting and GoPowercat.com. I have been working at KMAN since April 2007 and coordinate online video for the stations. I have been at GoPowercat.com since August 2008 where I am assistant video producer for their web elements. When I do have a spare minute away from the two though, I love relaxing at home, cooking, heading to Aggieville, and watching the big games with my friends. I'm what you might call a sports fanatic!  I love what I do and I would say it's safe to say I live for the Wildcat weekends from the first whistle to the last.
