At Thursday’s Riley County Commission meeting, Budget and Finance Director Johnetta Shepek conducted a work session to discuss the remaining 2010 non-funded Capital Improvement Projects (CIP). According to Shepek, during the 2010 budget process, a list of prioritized, imperative, non-funded projects was developed. The list of prioritized projects total an estimated $238,000. The Commission agreed to discuss the activation of these projects upon receipt of the July payment from Mercy Regional for the proceeds of the sale of Memorial Hospital. The payment has been received and totaled $308,822.50, which included principal and interest.

The recommended list of remaining 2010 prioritized, imperative, non-funded CIP projects include:

Self-Propelled Power Broom (PW)               $ 40,000

Small Vibratory Steel Compactor (PW)           50,000

3 - 3/4 Ton 4×4 Cab Pickups (PW)                78,000

4WD SUV replacement (EM Fire match)          20,000

Museum Repairs (PW)                                 15,000

Repair/Replace Courthouse Windows (PW)      10,000

Heat Pump Replacement (PW)                      25,000

Total Project Estimates                            $238,000

Shepek also introduced a request from County Appraiser Greg McHenry to activate the purchase of an Appraiser vehicle.  This is a replacement to their 1996 Ford Taurus, and was listed on the 2011 Imperative project list, but the vehicle is no longer functioning.   McHenry requested $15,000 for a replacement.  According to Shepek, there is funding available to activate this project.

The Commission approved activating this list and included the Appraiser’s replacement vehicle.
