Kaw Valley Rodeo balloon found two states away

463 miles is a lengthy trip even for someone traveling in an automobile–but imagine the route a pink balloon must have taken to get from Manhattan Friday evening to west-central Illinois Sunday afternoon. That’s when Nancy Martin, who lives on a farm near Alexis in Illinois found a balloon that had been launched as part of the Kaw Valley Rodeo’s “Pack it with Pink” event. While Martin had heard of Kansas State, she wasn’t exactly sure where Manhattan is located and had to look it up on a map. Martin says she’s launched her own balloons a time or two in connection with “Relay for Life”in Galesburg, Illinois, but it’s unusual to be on the receiving end.
