Proposed Day Care Regulations
in Local by Joe Pieper 0

Family Day care may be seeing some changes in the rules soon, and not everyone is pleased with the idea. The Riley County Commissioners held a public hearing last night to discuss the changes. The regulations would make licensed family day care homes allowed to have 10 children under 16 with annual inspections, and registered homes would be allowed 6 children with no annual inspections. Local day care provider Melissa Cook was present to speak against the regulations, stating objections to having inspections. Also present were Mindy Robbins and Susanne Kufahl from the Riley County Health Department, the agency responsible for the inspection process. Robbins and Kufahl opened the meeting with a presentation on violations found in Riley County. No action was taken on the issue.
