The Fort Riley soldier found deceased in a vehicle located on a trail behind the commissary on post last Wednesday has been identified.
It was Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin Miller, 33, assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. Miller had previously deployed to Iraq from August 2004 until January 2005 and from October 2008 until September 2009. He entered the Army in July of 1997, and was stationed at Fort Riley in July of 2008.
Miller, was found unresponsive in a vehicle last Thursday on a tank trail behind the commissary. An ambulance was called to the scene and the soldier was transported to Irwin Army Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about four p.m. The circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division and the Fort Riley Police.
