The end of the prescribed burning and burn ban policy presented by the Pottawatomie County Fire Supervisor concluded with answers about rumors going around the county regarding burning and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment smoke management plan.

Pottawatomie County Fire Supervisor Bruce Brazzle emphatically denied rumors at today’s Pottawatomie County Commission meeting which included that if he or the Emergency Management Director are out of town a burn ban is put on as a result, farmers and ranchers have to have their equipment they use for prescribed burning certified, if a control burn becomes out of control it is an automatic fine of $500, and that the Pottawatomie County office is behind and supporting the smoke management plan that KDHE is directed to write by the EPA.
