in Local by Cathy Dawes 0

A St. George woman is being treated at a Topeka Hospital following an accident on Highway 24 in Pottawatomie county this (Friday) morning. 47-year old Rina Beard was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center but then life-flighted to Stormont Vail in Topeka. A spokeswoman indicates Beard is a patient but says it’s too early for a condition report yet. The Kansas Highway patrol reports the accident occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. when a 2001 Freightliner semi-tractor driven by 61-year-old Steven Jordan of Clay Center was eastbound on U-S 24. Beard was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer northbound on Franklin Drive and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. The semi struck her Explorer. Beard was not wearing a seatbelt.
