New Year’s babies born

Mercy Regional Health Center’s first baby o 2010 is Joseph Lee Cockrell, born at 3:23 p.m. on New Year’s Day. Joseph was seven pounds 11 ounces and 21 inches long. Joseph’s parents are identified as Brian and Kelli Cockrell. The Hospital Auxiliary provided the usual basket of goodies to the New Year’s child with items such as socks, outfits, teddy bear, shampoo, bath set and toys. Geary Community Hospital has also announced the birth of its first child of the new year, Elijah James Bridges, born January first at 9:49 p.m. at the Martha K. Hoover Women’s Health Center. Elijah weighed seven pounds 13 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is the son of Andrew and Jessica Bridges of Manhattan. Grandparents live in Shawnee and Olathe. Elijah received a large basket of baby clothes and books from Geary Community Hospital and a 100 dollar savings bond from Maureen Gustafson of the Milennium Bank in Junction City.
