Local home builders in Manhattan are being applauded by the Kansas Building Industry Association. A new economic impact study released today by the National Association of Home Builders reveals that the home building industry in Kansas provides a surplus for the state. KBIA President Eugene Newman explains, “It is important for us to look closely at these numbers. We’ve been saying for a long time that local home builders are doing their part to build community, and these numbers show that we are a very important player in the overall health of our economy.” According to Newman, the numbers show that the first year impact of an estimated 5,617 single-family homes built in Kansas will generate $1.2 Billion an income for Kansas residents, $209.4 million in taxes and revenue for local and state governments, and create over twenty thousand jobs in Kansas.
