The holiday season has offically started at Fort Riley with the lighting of the holiday tree. On Thursday night, Commanding General of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, Major General Vincent Brooks, welcomed attendees from the Flint Hills Random Acts of Kindness awards and Mayors from surrounding cities. Mayors in attendance were Junction City Mayor Terry Heldstab, Ogden Mayor Jimmy Bond, and Manhattan mayor Bob Strawn. The 1st Infantry Division Band provided music and hot chocolate was served, creating a festive environment for those in attendance. Santa even showed up providing a suprising treat for kids.
