Fire caused an estimated $42,000 damage to a home at 1933 Hayes Drive Tuesday afternoon. Manhattan Fire Marshal Ryan Almes tells KMAN a grease fire was involved at the home owned by Jon Brake and occupied by Craig Tolliver. Three engines, the rescue and battalion chief, and American Red Cross responded to the blaze, reported shortly after two Tuesday afternoon. The fire was stopped quickly with a hose line, with the fire caused by a pan of unattended grease that caught fire and spread to the rest of the kitchen. Damage is estimated at $30,000 to the structure and $12,000 to the contents. Tolliver did not have renters insurance. The American Red Cross made arrangements for lodging for the Tolliver family.
