Fatal Nebraska accident involves former Manhattan resident

A former Manhattan man was killed in an accident in southern Nebraska Monday.The Clay County, Nebraska, sheriff’s department indicates 46-year-old Jay Kenney of Sutton, Nebraska died when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a semi-truck at an intersection in Sutton. Kenney was the former operator of a used car dealership in the Manhattan area and worked as a driver for UPS locally. Kenney most recently was Advertising Manager of the Clay County News in Sutton. The sheriff’s department in Nebraska says Kenney’s vehicle was southbound with the truck, driven by 68-year-old Richard Ebert of nearby Saronville, Nebraska, eastbound on another road, when it struck his car on the passenger side at the intersection. There was no information regarding whethere there was a stop sign at the intersection. No citations have been issued at this time as the investigation continues.The accident was reported at 1:40 Monday afternoon.
