Vehicle burglaries in Pottawatomie County
in Local by Cathy Dawes 0

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office is investigating six vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight Tuesday in the area of 7920 East Highway 24 in Manhattan. It appears the suspect or suspects were looking for car radios, with entry gained by smashing out the driver’s side windows. Damage and loss amounts aren’t yet available, although Sheriff Greg Riat indicates it will exceed $1,000.

Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s Office has noticed an increase in vehicle burglaries in the rural Manhattan area in past months, especially in the Green Valley area. A vehicle and person of interest are sought. The car is described as dark green, possibly a Honda four-door. The driver appears to be a darker complected young man.

A stolen credit card from one of the burglaries was used at a business that was able to obtain a photograph of the individual and car. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office at 457-3353, and tips can remain anonymous.
