Fire at a home at 112 Pride Drive, just off of K-177, disrupted traffic for a while on the highway, reducing it to one lane… and also caused significant damage to the single family home. 23 firefighters responded to the blaze, reported shortly before one this (Thursday) morning. Riley County Assistant Fire chief Doug Messer tells KMAN the scene was being cleared shortly before 5:30 a.m. Messer adds no one was hurt in the fire. 23 firefighters responded, from five stations. Three pumpers and two tanker trucks were also on hand. Riley County Police and Riley County EMS also responded. Damage is estimated at $60,000. While the tenant Tony Zafron had renter’s insurance, there were no working smoke detectors.
