Wamego school bond passes
in Local by Cathy Dawes 0

Supporters of a plan to renovate and expand Wamego’s Central Elementary School apparently made their case, with the yes votes outnumbering the no votes by a ratio of nearly three to one. Wamego Schools Superintendent Doug Conwell was one happy school official this (Wednesday) morning, describing it as a pleasant surprise. However he says supporters thought the voters would understand the need and the community tends to be supportive of the public school system. Conwell adds voters showed that support resoundingly, with 922 yes votes and 327 no. Pottawatomie County Clerk Susan Figge adds there are 17 provisional ballots that Pottawatomie County commissioners will be canvassing Monday. The $9.3 million project raises the district tax levy by one mill.
