Whooping cough in Pottawatomie County
in Uncategorized by Cathy Dawes 0

H1N1 isn’t the only virus impacting Pottawatomie county these days. Two cases have been reported, although no new cases have been reported in several days. But County Health Director Leslie Campbell told County Commissioners Monday there’s also another virus of concern right now. There have also been two cases of pertussis, or whooping cough, reported. Campbell adds a vaccine is available for pertussis and is a good idea. Symptoms of pertussis, or whooping cough, include as a cough, runny nose, and temperature. The cough lasts for several weeks, and sounds like a “whoop.”
