The identity of a 23-year-old man who shot himself to death during a multi-county police chase early Tuesday has been released. Brian Resser of rural Louisville is that individual. The incident started late Monday when the Pottawatomie County sheriff’s office got a report of a man driving a black Grand Prix who was possibly armed and making suicidal threats. Resser reportedly sped off when Marshall County authorities tried to stop him about 2:30 a.m. After a chase through Wamego and Westmoreland in Pottawatomie County, stop sticks were used in Westmoreland and the car rolled to a stop. Officers found Resser dead inside the car, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot. Pottawatomie County authorities said Resser made several calls during the chase to tell people he was going to kill himself.
